I feel your pain, I've smashed plenty of Nikon Speedlights and more than one lens hood in my day. To Nikon's credit, the flash feet usually give way before the camera's hot shoe.

 

I think I actually heard you yell from where you were...

Just to make sure I will not be running into missing spare parts delays I’ll send my old top, including the flex, with it.

Ugh. This is terrible. Sorry to hear. I guess by your tone it's not still under and covered by passport?

Thanks, but I would not call it a nightmare. I’ll just have it repaired and shoot my M8 in the meantime.
