Hello,

I have several Leica Camera's and I would like to confirm that I have identified them correctly since each one has several variants and potential modifications.

I've used https://www.cameraquest.com/ltmnum.htm to narrow each camera down but I can't figure out if what I have has any details that may make it unique or even a fake.

Leica M3 from 1957?

Serial number is 899559

with Ernst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar Summicron 5cm 2 Lens

and Leica Meter MC

Great,

Thank you for the replies.

What is the difference between the single strokes and double stroke? I see that one is more valuable than the other.

Was it a modification or were some camera's made as a double stroke?

Double stroke cameras were the earlier M3's. They are not more valuable as such although as always other factors will matter. For use most will prefer a single stroke model.

Some very early M3s, which are double strokes, fetch high prices but in most cases the single/double stroke issue does not affect value. This is not a very early example. From a user perspective both types have their enthusiasts and opinions differ on this issue.

In terms of value for all of the cameras on which you have sought advice, you should look at the Collectiblend site, which I recommended before. There are, however, no hard and fast rules about value which for all vintage/classic items is what the market is prepared to pay.
