IWC Doppel Posted March 10, 2015 Share #21 Posted March 10, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) Man....I guess I have been taking photographs for too long, because I *just* don't get this use of this fine gear, like a bunch of soccer mom's commiserating in the grocery store parking lot about how they can never seem to get their Ferraris out of first gear. Bye Man..... I guess so try the takeaway you'll avoid parking lots
Advertisement Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Hi IWC Doppel, Take a look here Images from Leica Summilux 35/1.4 ASPHERICAL - 2A. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
CheshireCat Posted March 11, 2015 Share #22 Posted March 11, 2015 The acronym AA in today's times confuses almost evebody as it has become a default for APO-ASPH., hence the attempt to replace this by "2A" for 2 ASPHERIC surfaces which sets this lens apart from the other 35 Summiluxes (and all other Leica lenses save the Noctilux 50/1.2 I guess) Don't forget also: - The Noctilux 50/0.95 "2A" - The Zeiss ZM 35/1.4 "2A" - The Voigtlander 35/1.2 "3A"
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 11, 2015 Author Share #23 Posted March 11, 2015 Don't forget also: - The Noctilux 50/0.95 "2A" - The Zeiss ZM 35/1.4 "2A" - The Voigtlander 35/1.2 "3A" Good points, who knows what the future will bring
Peter Branch Posted March 14, 2015 Share #24 Posted March 14, 2015 Don't forget also:- The Noctilux 50/0.95 "2A" - The Zeiss ZM 35/1.4 "2A" - The Voigtlander 35/1.2 "3A" Plus the 18mm f/3.8 Super-Elmar-M ASPH which has 2 Aspheric surfaces.
CheshireCat Posted March 15, 2015 Share #25 Posted March 15, 2015 Plus the 18mm f/3.8 Super-Elmar-M ASPH which has 2 Aspheric surfaces. Right, one element with two asph surfaces, same as the SEM 21/3.4. Curiously, the very similar Elmar 24/3.8 has only one asph surface.
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 18, 2015 Author Share #26 Posted March 18, 2015 It's tiny Smaller than I expected Is it normal for the focus mechanism to be a little slow/sticky at the closest end?
IWC Doppel Posted March 18, 2015 Share #27 Posted March 18, 2015 Advertisement (gone after registration) I did have my copy CLA'D I think it was a little sticky from memory Looks in nice condition from the pictures ?
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 19, 2015 Author Share #28 Posted March 19, 2015 I did have my copy CLA'D I think it was a little sticky from memory Looks in nice condition from the pictures ? My copy does not seem to focus correctly from 0.7m till 0.9m .. The focus seems to slip so even though I'm rotating the focus ring the elements inside do not seem to align correctly to bring the image into focus - a quick drive to Wetzlar should fix this Lens looks like it was packed away for a very long time, which also explains the focus slip Fully packaged with all caps and paperwork - MINT minus (small mark on the area where the hood latches on to the body)
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 23, 2015 Author Share #29 Posted March 23, 2015 One of my first shots, it's been quite popular on social media sites
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 23, 2015 Author Share #30 Posted March 23, 2015 Apparently the sticky focus at 0.7m-0.8m is normal for this lens. The lens has been taken in for a full CLA. The aperture mechanism was a little stiff and rough so the whole lens will have to be disassembled and the part on which the ball bearing moves when changing aperture will be replaced. Can't wait to get it back! Don't want to think about the cost on the other hand. Always a pleasure to go to Wetzlar and meet the friendly staff who really try to provide the best service ever.
BerndReini Posted March 25, 2015 Share #31 Posted March 25, 2015 Here's a link to a set of photographs from last week's trip to Austin, mostly taken with the 35AA (with the exception of a few 50lux aspherical photos). Different apertures and distances.
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted March 29, 2015 Author Share #32 Posted March 29, 2015 Had gone for a walk around the city before I gave the lens in for the CLA Here are some images from the walk All shot on the M240 Welcome, dear visitor! TheGodParticle/Hari Posted May 28, 2015 Author Share #34 Posted May 28, 2015 Hi All! Nice to be back here A very exciting new job plus the rabid comments on my 75Lux + Monochrom post had me away for awhile In the same breath, it was nice to see fellow forum members stand up for me and for the passion we all share for our gear and photography But, nothing a beautiful warm sunny morning in India with a nice chai and a stable wireless connection cant fix I've been shooting the 35ASPHERICAL extensively and it does deliver gorgeous results Would one see the difference f2 and stopped down further? I don't think so, but maybe there are some who can tell. What is certain is that wide open till f2 you can tell by the results the lens churns out Let's not get back to a price : performance discussion, we are in "limited supply item" territory and the common rules dont apply here I dont know if i posted these images here -> Welcome, dear visitor! TheGodParticle/Hari Posted May 28, 2015 Author Share #35 Posted May 28, 2015 I did process this image a little more than my usual minimalist style, the scene demanded to be presented boldly Welcome, dear visitor! MarkP Posted May 28, 2015 Share #36 Posted May 28, 2015 Spectacular scene and photograph Hari. If I may make some constructive criticism , the processing is just a tad too bold (over sharpened/too contrasty) for my taste !
TheGodParticle/Hari Posted May 28, 2015 Author Share #37 Posted May 28, 2015 Spectacular scene and photograph Hari. If I may make some constructive criticism , the processing is just a tad too bold (over sharpened/too contrasty) for my taste ! Hi Mark! Nice to see you! And, thank you for the kind compliment. Yes, I fully agree with your comment on the processing - it is overcooked by my standards too, I felt the scene warranted it. Will upload the mildly tweaked version too so the contrast and comparison is visible.
