Mixalis Posted October 25, 2013 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Earlier this week I joined fellow members of the London Photographers' School for a night-time lurk around the back streets of Waterloo in London. The theme was available light black and white so I took along my Monochrom with a 35mm Summilux to suck in as much light as possible. As it turned out, I could have done with a longer lens, particularly for the skateboard and the street dancing shots which are massively cropped. 1) High flyer: f/1.4 at 1/360s, ISO 3200 2) Skating for a fall: f/1.4 at 1/1000s, ISO 8000 3) Finishing touches: f/1.4 at 1/60s, ISO 1250 4) Street dancing: f/1.4 at 1/125s, ISO 3200 5) Silhouette: f/1.4 at 1/60s, ISO 500 After wrestling with the holy trinity all evening I came away with a greater understanding of how to use ISO in conjunction with aperture and speed. I gained a healthy respect for the Monochrome's low-light abilities. Welcome, dear visitor! Guest borge Posted October 26, 2013 Share #8 Posted October 26, 2013 Great images. I really prefer the uncropped ones. The cropped ones look unnatural and incomplete.
Mixalis Posted October 26, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted October 26, 2013 Great images. I really prefer the uncropped ones. The cropped ones look unnatural and incomplete. Thanks Borge. Now I compare the two I rather think I agree with you. I know I crop too readily and need to get out of the habit. By the way, you'll be glad to hear I remembered to take of the yellow filter. Mixalis Posted October 27, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted October 27, 2013 Thanks Mike, looks like you were shooting in virtual darkness! Pretty gloomy it was indeed. If it hadn't been for the guy with the handheld lamp it would have been pitch dark. Now if I had had a Noctilux...
