SF-24D Bounced Flash Part Two

In order to improve flash efficiency I wanted to replace the card stock bouncer in my previous thread http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/other-leica-products/272710-bounce-card-sf-24d.html with something more reflective. Some of Joe Demb's products looked like they could be modified to work so I sent Joe an email with a couple of questions. He responded with a phone call and after some discussion Joe offered to develop a solution. The photos below show the result.

The bouncer performs very well, and seems to be more efficient of flash power than my card approach. Initially I did not think I needed the top-mounted reflector, but after using it I realized that I got better results when I had some fill light. The top reflector allows me to dial in just the right amount. Also, I found that by tilting the top reflector forward about 45 degrees the flash becomes a direct flash again for times when there is no ceiling suitable for bounce. I believe this bouncer will work equally well on the SF-20.

I believe Joe intends to make the SF-24D Bouncer a a production item, but will make them to order until that time. If you are interested or need more info contact Joe Demb at info@dembflashproducts.com

Please note that I have no financial interest in Demb Flash Products.

Great Joe Demb idea for ceiling bounce & diffused fill flash with the SF-24D! But have you made any progress in your cogitations upon how to adapt that unit into a swiveling flash? I wait with great anticipation.

Still working on that. I came up with a rig using an articulating arm that shows some promise. The challenge is attaching it to the body. At the moment an Arca-Swiss L plate is the attachment point, but I'm not satisfied that is the best solution. Trying to avoid adding significant bulk & weight, which sorts of defeats the purpose.
