The right fixingpoint for the wrist strap (strap eyelet) has worked itself loose.

Anyone with the same experience?

That's interesting - those two little posts appear to be threaded. It would take some force to break that. BTW, there is another place to attach a strap on the other side of the camera.

They will investigate it i think, insurances check those accidents and if they give the OK then you will get the money i think

My take on this is that the strap lug broke off, hence the damage to the camera, not that the owner dropped the camera which caused the lug to snap off. Perhaps the OP could clarify?

If I'm right, then this is a design fault or manufacturing defect. If the brakes failed on your new car, would you take the blame for not being able to stop?

Yes i know but insurances sometimes do tests and simulate crashes and all that before they pay the money cause insurances never believe the ppl :p

Sorry? If the strap lugs have failed then I would expect this to be a warranty issue!

Not encouraging, shutter buttons and strap lugs snapping off!

Look at the dents and scratches - this camera has been in the wars.

Ok let's clarify...

The question is....

Is the camera all abused looking due to a fall caused by lug failure...or is the owner abusive and that caused the lug to fail.

That's all that's being argued!

Given the op didn't say, I don't know if anyone has the answerbut them, but good luck convincing leica (not sarcasm, I actually mean good luck)

Is it me or is it Leica?

as I mention before... it worked itself out.

As a consequence of this, the camera fell and hit rocks and from there into the sea.

The threads of the screws holding the eyelet are undamaged,

so no force has been applied.

That's scary and very annoying. My tip would be a manufacturing issue. Otherwise I just cannot imagine two (!) property tightened screws to just loosen themselves like that inside (!) the camera body. I just checked my lugs and they seem both to sit very tight and without movement. I would imagine them to move for- and backwarrds if the screws get loose before the lug falls off completely.

In your place i would talk to Leica immediately. The threads seem undamaged, the screws unbroken and not twisted. As long as the body is unopened for me that goes as a proof the lug did not get off because of the fall, but contrary.
