pappde Posted April 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I solved the battery door issue! http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=198146&stc=1&d=1271371656 With a small plier gently squeeze the metal housing that holds the grey plastic tab that is the door latch. You only need 1/2 of a millimeter, do this towards the middle part of the metal cover. This will pull the door stronger against the battery sping action. Welcome, dear visitor! earleygallery Posted April 15, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 15, 2010 Simple enough but I'm not sure anyone should be taking a pair of pliers to a new £1300 camera!
pappde Posted April 16, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 16, 2010 Simple enough but I'm not sure anyone should be taking a pair of pliers to a new £1300 camera! I should have stated that I used a watchmakers plier and a heavy plastic strip to prevent marrig of the plastic door.
thomsva Posted April 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 16, 2010 Thanks for sharing! I will do this too.
2045 Posted April 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 16, 2010 pappde, that was brave, but what a shame (to Leica)... i'm returning it for now. even though it might not be a big issue but i can't justify how much i paid for the built quality. i hope Leica sees it & correct it soon. i'll get it then. F1Addict Posted April 16, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 16, 2010 That was a quick and easy fix on mine. I didn't bend the piece quite as much as you did (yes, I was a little scared), but the battery door now fits PERFECTLY. Thanks for the tip!
RichardM8 Posted July 5, 2010 Share #7 Posted July 5, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I found this VERY scary but finally I did it too with clammy fingers. Not with pliers but by hand with a small'n sharp piece of wood to avoid marks or scratches. Solved! Now the door aligns perfectly straight and flush with the camera body. Thanks for the tip!!! jaapv Posted July 6, 2010 Share #8 Posted July 6, 2010 Which suggests that Leica should make a small modification in the production process to lay this issue to rest once and for all.
RichardM8 Posted July 6, 2010 Share #9 Posted July 6, 2010 Agree... But I also think that these sort of things look much simpler from a consumer point of view then they are. Would be great though. And while at it, make it a (retrofitable) metal door...
