In the film forum I've noticed the "I Love my MP" many times. I don't have a MP but I have a M9.

And I love it.

And I mean it.

And it is full frame.

And it has 18 MP.

And it sits in my hand perfectly.

And it is part of me.

I'm glad you like the M9 Birgit (I'm still waiting for mine).

And, I like your website... But, do you have any M9 images posted yet?

Please update when you can - you do some really nice street shooting, and I hope to do the same.

Thanks!

Is that a UV/IR filter or a plain old UV?

Glad you are enjoying the good life.

Hey Jeffrey,

Thanks for your question. The filter on my M9 is a UVa filter. Best, Bixi

Dear MVMP,

Thanks for looking at my website :)

I frequently post images on the People forum. If you'd look for Bixi you should find them.

Hopefully you don't have to wait too long before you'll get your M9. Good luck and keep me posted ...

Bixi

Nice photos on your website, but I have two comments:

- The JPG compression is set way too high. There are artifacts in over half the images.

- The URL. You need to spend some time figuring out why when you type in

www.birgitkrippner.com

you get:

www.birgitkrippner.com/birgitkrippner.com/Birgit_Krippner/Birgit_Krippner.html

Carsten, Armin & dsj - Thanks for you comments.

Casten - I contacted MobileMe (my website is published via MobileMe) and I was told that they can't change my URL. I don't like it myself but I guess that I have to live with it. Thanks for pointing out that the JPG compression is set way too high. I'll look into this.

dsj - Thanks for commenting on my Hand & M9 photo. This image was quite difficult to take since I took it myself with my left hand :).

Hi Birgitte,

I use MobileMe and iWeb and from iWeb you can change the name of your site pages to something shorter.

If you look at http://www.tonyobrienphotography.com/

you will see how it looks.

You can do this easily from the 'Inspector' in iWeb. You can change the SiteName (in my case I just called the site 'exhibit' to keep it short. You can also use the inspector to change the name of each page on your site. If you need help doing it PM me but I think you will find it very easy.

Bixi,

You're making my scrawny wrist strap from Luigi feel quite inadequate!

The URL strangeness is a common finding with iWeb; it makes sites that are far more complicated and require more server space than having a few pages and an images folder approach, but it does work well and allows a lot more fancy features. For all the complexity, the output is W3C compliant.

Chris

Hello Everybody,

I really would like this thread to be for everybody owning a M9. I'd love to see photographs of your M9 with your personal touch. Thanks.

Tony - Thanks for your helpful advice. I like your website.

Chirs - I wasn't aware that iWeb makes sites that are far more complicated and require more server space. Thanks for pointing it out.

Hello Bixi,

what kind of fantastic wrist strap are you using there? It looks quite cool to me and I would like to know if I could get it here in Germany!? I might even use it for my off the camera flash ... Best Regards, Jochen

Jochen -

This strap is made by Luigi in Italy. If you scroll down Luigi's website you'll see a color chart. My strap is color Marlboro. I love this strap. Normally it goes around your shoulder but I prefer wrapping the strap around my wrist.

... but I have a M9.

And I love it.

Me too. But it is logical to love it, otherwise, you and me would have to admit having made a very big mistake, because we bought a very expensive camera and lens. This is a huge bias.

And it is full frame.

... and it's digital. This is definitely THE reason, to love it.

And it has 18 MP.

So what?

And it sits in my hand perfectly.

I absolutely can not agree as far as I'm concerned. I find the M camera not ergonomic at all. It is small, which is wonderful. It is compact, which is wonderful.

But holding the camera with one hand is rather arduous and straining. My hand and fingers get tired and tense very quickly and the lower egde of the bottom hurts on my pinky.

The M9 could have come not only with a shoulder strap but also and better with a wrist strap as an alternative. Especially because I don't get rid of the fear, that the camera could easily slip out of my hand.

Or even better, the M9 body could have been shaped with a sort of a recessed grip on the left side, so that one could hold more securely.

There are definitely many people desiring a more ergonomic holding of the M9, or why is there an accessory M-grip offered by Leica itself, a lousy one by the way, or such devices as the "thumb up"?

I understand, that 50 years ago, such a design was impossible to produce from a block of aluminium or brass. But nowadays it is no problem anymore to build a much more ergonomic body, which still would be compatible with a very straight and lovely frugal Leica M design.

The aperture ring of the 50 summilux is too loose-smooth and its lens hood could snap more securely into position. The lens cap could be constructed in a way, that it doesn't fall of while taking the camera out of the photo bag.

I'm not enough a real "fan", as to not be able to see the disadvantages and accept them without criticism. There is definitely much potential for further improvements on the M9 and Leica equipment, especially regarding ergonomics.

And it is part of me.

As far as ergonomics are concerned, No.

But as a small discrete tool for taking pictures, I feel much more as a unity and overall comfortable with the M than with my Nikon D700. So I strongly agree.

:D:D:D C'mon people - I want to see more photographs of your M9!

Thanks you all for your comments and questions. And fantastic to see some M9 owners starting posting photographs of their new cameras.

rosuna - Is it safe? Yes indeed. It feels very safe to me. The strap is made out of beautiful soft and strong leather.

Jager - Thank you for commenting on my images :).

Marty - Great shot of your M9. Love the high contrast. BTW, I love the MP thread too.

sblutter - Thank you for your generous comments. One story you can find here:

LFI Gallery - Galerie

I do have some text going with selected images of mine. And in my head I have a story to each single photograph.

Andreas - Thank you for putting such good thoughts into your comment. I guess that I can see the glass either half full or half empty. I used to have a Nikon D700 and I carried it on my wrist. Comparing the M9 to my Nikon, the M9 is a piece of cake. So much lighter and easier. And for the kind of photography what I'm doing it fits perfectly to my lifestyle.
