What is the oldest lens you've used on your M8?

I'm asking just out of curiosity. I tried a borrowed 1936 (I think) 50mm lens last year and was surprised at how good it was when used very carefully (flare was a real problem). So I thought that I'd just pose the question:).

my oldest lens is a 200mm Telyt f4.5- it is rated as near useless by most people it seems... however I find it renders very nicely:

Another Summar, 1934, 2172** with an original hood which is harder to find than an unscratched lens :D

My oldest is properly the Milar 65mm f 4,5. As far as I know it was first build in the 20s and build until the 1950s but its original lens design was developed in the 1890s. Any further info is welcome!

The lens has a weird m25 screw and I mounted it on a visoflex I bellow. The lens is very dirty. I haven't had the guts to dismantle it yet.

Leitz Elmar 5cm f/3.5 from 1953. Not into the 40s or 30s, but certainly "vintage." :)

* Pic of the lens on an M6 (shot with Viso III and Summicron 50mm).

* Portrait of pianist.

Modest set here:

I'll eventually obtain glass that's 20 years older. . . .

Cheers!

Will

Wow! You certainly get a lot out of this classic lens. Sharp where it needs to be, and beautifully blurred where not. The bokeh in your series of the woman against a brick building is outstanding IMO.

Regards, Jim

Thanks, Jim. I was surprised with how it handled the backgrounds--it flattened them in a very interesting, "vintage" way. I need to use the lens more often as I like the way it renders the backgrounds and color.

Cheers!

This test photo was taken with an old Hector 135 mm f4 as close as i could focus in full sun.

I got the lens at a very good price as it was in a bit of a mess but I really only wanted it for the barrel as the 135mm I already had was very stiff at focusing.

Anyway the aperture blades were damaged so I dismantled the lens and removed them and cleaned the glass . I know this is probably sacrilegious, but for a cheap lens I think it is not bad. I don't know how old the lens is but the number on the inside of the barrel is1717604

This shot is straight out of the camera no PP no filter
