echorec Posted October 8, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 8, 2008 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello friends, Just want to share what I found today and I also have two questions: 1. I´m debating if I should get the lens cleaned or just leave it as it is. I already have a very clean collapsible Summar that I use all the time. What would you have done? 2. The lens is stuck to the (Leica III) body... Any tips? Thanks.

luigi bertolotti Posted October 8, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 8, 2008 mmmhhh... very fine the rigid Summar... if I were you, I'd leave it as it is: it's a rare item and originality is more important than usability. About the lens stuck into the LTM... try hard... once that a similar issue happened to me, I used a plumber's tool with a pair of rubber stripes between its "jaws" and the lens mount... it worked. earleygallery Posted October 8, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 8, 2008 Well it depends if you intend using it or not. I notice that the infinity lock is missing, so I'd be tempted to send it to someone who can cla it and replace the button (with the correct version of course). Maybe also try a few tiny drops of WD40 to the join between lens and mount?
echorec Posted October 8, 2008 Author Share #5 Posted October 8, 2008 Thanks James and Luigi, I applied more force than I dared the first time and now the lens is off. I will see if I can find someone here for a gentle CLA. It is a bit dirty between the lens elements and it would be fun to use the lens. Best,

Maybe also try a few tiny drops of WD40 to the join between lens and mount? Never ever use WD 40 anywhere on a camera as it can penetrate to other parts and compromise their functions ... also it stinks ... even small amounts leave a tell tale odour. Best, Speak to Werner Schaden at LPphoto (mittemot Nalen, Gata Regerings ...). I've done good business with him as late as yesterday.
