Default Leica 35mm 1.4/ASPHERICAL

I have the first version of the 35mm ASPHERICAL lens (not the ASPH). It is in like new condition, but no box. I am condiering selling this lens to finance a Noctilux, possibly. Has anyone seen a recent transaction involving this lens so I can assess value?

Based on my purchase of this lens last year - I'd say at least over $4000 USD. I paid less, but given the rarity and reputation....I know people will pay more now.

One was sold in Italy in 2007 for 4800 Euros (from a dealer) : I didn't saw it, but was rated A/B by the vendor, no box, no papers. If I was so lucky to have one, I wouldn't sell it... but that's easy to say when one hasn't it...
I'm not an estimator of ebay, but this could be a case in which a tentative can worth... I suppose some M8 affluent owner could go crazy for it...

Recent ebay posts identify around $5-5.5k. With the uncertainty around the noctilux, I also feel that it may be best to wait and see if a new one is around the corner before selling this beauty since you will always get a good price for it.

You are a long time Ebay user Breiva so you have a lot of opportunity to evaluate your deal.
Sincerely

Four days ago to the Milan shop "New Old Camera" the 11873 35/1.4 ASPHERICAL with maker box, warranty card, instructions booklet, leather case, all in mint condition (A-) sold €3050.

* Keep your ASPHERICAL, is too rare, much more than Noct

Cheers

Don't sell it. It is rare. Otherwise, you will regret the rest of your life

Ivar B is actually talking about the version before the ASPH, which was labeled "ASPHERICAL"

Idee AW: Leica 35mm 1.4/ASPHERICAL

Ivar, I rub my eyes and remember: you had the 1.2 Nocti and have the 35lux aspherical (which I have, too). Why would you want a 1.0 Nocti and sell the lux aspherical? It is a great lens. The only drawback: you can't have it 6-bit coded because of its rear construction. If you can do without the coding: keep it . Considered that you pay just a bit less for a new 35lux, an average s/h price of about 3000 Euro is not worth letting it go.

I agree. I own and use both the 1.0 Noctilux (older version with no built in hood), the 1.2 Noctilux and the 35/1.4 ashperical. In my subjective view the 1.2 version draws better than the 1.0 that I have. This may be because of quality spread, etc. but is my consistent SUBJECTIVE impression.
Selling the aspherical for the 1.0 Noctilux will not IMHO result in better pictures for you.
I have also never experienced colour problems with the aspherical 35mm as far as I can remember.
