M to LTM lens adapter (not the usual LTM to M)

I am looking for an adapter to convert an M lens to LTM mount. And no - I am not having a funny turn

 

I want to use an M mount 50mm Planar lens on the front of my Novoflex Bellows, which is LTM/LTM for Macro work. At the camera end, it has an LTM to M adapter ring permanently on it and I have various Novoflex adapters for the front end but none to fit an M lens.

 

Any ideas anyone? It is not sufficiently required to get someone like Amedeo Muscelli or Ian at Griturn to make me one, at considerable cost but if there was an old adapter for macro use made at some point, I might be able to track one of them down.

Novoflex made the adapter, code LEISOM, and later a better version, code LEI-M. LEISOM has a set-screw to retain the M lens; not very good. LEI-M has a regular bayonet. LEI-M may still be made. These adapters do occur with some regularity on E-bay. Leica also made such an adapter, but it must have been in the medical catalog. The one I have is finished in grey hammer-tone. I bought the only one of these that I have seen.

Many thanks for the info. I have found a LEI-M on eBay but the photo is puzzling. Sure one side of it looks like LTM but the other side is very strange. It is a male bayonet but looks to have a female bayonet release catch underneath. Could this one include a back to back M adapter but what on earth would be the purpose of that?

 

Ideas?????

 

I have bought it anyway as I found another picture of a LEI-M, also for sale but at a higher price, which shows the correct female bayonet obviously underneath the strange male to male adapter. I might even be able to sell off the weird male to male adapter to someone who desperately needs one.

After a bit of research on the forum, I have found the VISA is a much sought after adapter for the PIGRIFF-C Novoflex follow focus kit. I have offered it on the thread relating to that, as I would much rather it was used by a forum member than sitting gathering dust in a drawer.

I keep coming back to the BEOON for all likely and unlikely purposes. It comes with a set of extension tubes which happen to fit the LTM thread plus an LTM-to-M adapter to mount an M lens. The adapter might be a bit long for your purposes?

I thought all these adapters as below were either LTM to LTM or M to M. I cannot see on the literature below, mention of an M to LTM adapter, unless this is a separate adapter (maybe UOORE/16508 but I think that is female to male whereas the LEI-M is male to female, which I need).

According to the seller, it is just two adapters stacked on top of each other. I don’t think any butchering has occurred. If I find it has been butchered, it will be straight back to the seller.

By the way, and off the subject, VISA does fit PIGRIFF-C to Leica M. But on a Visoflex II/III the unit will not focus to infinity unless modifications are made to the PIGRIFF-C. I removed parts of the close-focus facility to shorten the PIGRIFF-C. It is worth the effort. Super-Rapid Follow Focus is very enjoyable to use.

 

VISA is more properly used for the Novoflex universal bellows.

I am using a Novoflex LTM/LTM bellows, not a Leica Bellows II. The Novoflex is much easier to use direct on the front of an M240, as it does not cover the bayonet release button when mounted. It also has a better super fine focus control although its coarse focus control is much cruder than the Leica.

Wilson - the extension tubes that come with the BEOON have indeed M39 threads, as far as I can make out. It also comes with an adapter to attach your M lens in front.

 

I did attach the tube to my III.

Presumably to fit it direct onto the front of a Leica M. There was a thread recently on the Novoflex universal bellows. I might mention that I have a VISA on that, if it would be of use to anyone.

The LEI-M I have bought, looks pretty much the same and at least I now have one on the way. There are two BEOON’s for sale at the moment but one is a lot more than I paid for the LEI-M and the other one is on auction, so may climb a fair bit. The one I have bought is also in Europe so I don’t have customs to fight with and postage alone from the US on the BEOON is $55. Given that I am actually buying the correct adapter for the Novoflex bellows, I am happy with my purchase. If I can get some money for the VISA, I will be even happier.
