Pecole Posted June 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) As soon as 1930, after offering the ETRIN combination case for the Leica I, Leitz advertised the ESNEL ever-ready case. This very first model had no fastening screw - the camera was more or less "secured" by the circular opening partly covering the lens flange - and the neck strap was fixed. I have been lucky in finding one in excellent condition at a flea market in the early 1980s. Here are two pixes of this rarely - if ever - illustrated item. Robert J Posted June 14, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 14, 2010 I have one of these which is identical to yours except for the neckstrap. It is a continuous strap which runs through a loop at each side and one on the bottom. The fit is snug enough that the camera will not fall out even when the case is held upside down and shaken. It only cost me $25.00,a good deal? Now about yours : it is the second version, with the "running through", detachable strap, dating 1931 and heralding the classical ESNAR (with fastening screw) offered as from 1932.
