nobbylon Posted August 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I bought a summicron 50 in a job lot today but can't work out what it is. It looks like a normal version 4 but the focus ring is scalloped like the previous dr's and rigid's. serial is 229xxxx which makes it 1968 and it's black chrome. It takes the clip on hood with cut outs. Does anyone know what it is please? thanks in advance, j
Advertisement Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Hi nobbylon, Take a look here SUMMICRON 50 identity?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted August 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2010 It should be a black version II ("rigid") Summicron, one of the last to be built. The version III came 1969 with No. 2.349.251.
nobbylon Posted August 23, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted August 23, 2010 I'm certain it's a variant of the version after the rigid. I forgot to mention that the close focus is 0.7m but can't find any reference to it anywhere.
Michael Geschlecht Posted August 24, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 24, 2010 Hello Everyone, At approximately that time, early 1969, for a short time period, Leitz built a new 6 element version of the 50 Rigid Summicron which looked similar to the second (knurled scallop) rigid 50 except the lens was black anodized, not black enamel and there was no flare at the base of the lens where it mounted to the camera. There was also no infinity lock. Best Regards, Michael
