Guest WPalank Posted June 8, 2010 Share #2 Posted June 8, 2010 So far not working for me. At the Leica website, after entering my customer info and TAN #, I am directed to a page that will allow me to download version 2.6.1. At the same time the Leica site sent me a licensing # via email that I entered in the Promotion Code at the Adobe website both as an upgrade (I already have the most recent release candidate) and a new product download. The license number was not recognized in either case. Let's see if things are ironed out.
Shade Posted June 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted June 8, 2010 I have not downloaded my LR2 from Leica either... and plus I have two licenses available from both the X1 and the M9.. I wonder if we'll get a "free" upgrade or a discounted upgrade. And as you said above, does it mean the 2.6.1 is not available for download either? Guest ccmsosse Posted June 8, 2010 Share #4 Posted June 8, 2010 The upgrade is $99.00 - so I am going for it...
Shade Posted June 8, 2010 Share #5 Posted June 8, 2010 That sounds pretty reasonable... for the price of an upgrade... So do I need to install the LR2.6.1 first right?
Guest ccmsosse Posted June 8, 2010 Share #6 Posted June 8, 2010 That sounds pretty reasonable... for the price of an upgrade... So do I need to install the LR2.6.1 first right? I must assume that - the upgrade program does check the computer for the prior version and serial number - LR3 comes with a new Serial Number but the old one is needed too 99 vs 299 - not too bad... huzel Posted June 8, 2010 Share #10 Posted June 8, 2010 Another question about Lightroom is does anybody know a textbook that teaches advanced Lightroom? Regards,
andybarton Posted June 8, 2010 Share #11 Posted June 8, 2010 Loads of people have tried the beta successfully. There are dozens of books on Lightroom on Amazon and other booksellers. The Scott Kelby ones are good. Leica also offer training days at their acadamy in London if you're interested in being taught by someone who also knows what he's doing. Wolfgang Esslinger Posted June 8, 2010 Share #17 Posted June 8, 2010 Does anyone know if LR 3 requires more RAM than LR2.xx? With ever more functions software gets heavier all the time. I am thinking about the upgrade but I am limited to 2GB RAM
DSchmidt Posted June 8, 2010 Share #18 Posted June 8, 2010 I have downloaded and installed LR3 and its terrific. One question however... Can someone tell me the proper way to uninstall LR2 on a Mac? I'm not sure if just dragging it to the trash is the right way to go!

chris_tribble Posted June 8, 2010 Share #20 Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) I have not downloaded my LR2 from Leica either... and plus I have two licenses available from both the X1 and the M9.. I wonder if we'll get a "free" upgrade or a discounted upgrade. And as you said above, does it mean the 2.6.1 is not available for download either? I'd also reserved a reference number from one of my M9 bodies to get the latest version for free. I assume that this has to happen sooner than later as there can't be an assumption that Leica will lock you in to an obsolete version of the program - can it? I've just written as follows to Leica: Dear Leica - I have an M9 camera (number XXXXXXX) for which I have NOT downloaded Lightroom. As LR3 is now available, I would like to take advantage of this facility - but at the moment, your website only offers LR 2.61 (already out of date). Can you advise when LR3 will be available for download for Leica users? Many thanks for your assistance, With best greetings / Mit besten Grüßen I'll update the forum once I've heard back from them...
