henkada Posted August 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This summer I have made beautiful pictures at France, Normandy and the Cote d'Azur. And this weekend: Sail Amsterdam 2010. Normally I use Fuji film, Velvia and Provia, on Nikon camera's and the Mamiya 7. I do this because I love projection slides. When I digitize the films by a well known lab, the results are not as good as what I get from the Digilux. Thanks Thorsten Overgaard. I have only 2 small problems. I cannot use a SD card bigger than 2Gb and the battery is empty very fast. Is there any solution??

nigelb Posted August 23, 2010 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2010 Hello and welcome to the world of Digilux 2. The Digilux 2 will not accept SDHC cards over 2Gb. SDHC cards were introduced after the D2 was produced, so you are limited to standard SD cards of 2Gb. I don't find this a problem as the 5Mp files are relatively small, just buy a couple more if you need more space. As for the battery life, provided you are charging for the full time and your charger is OK, then maybe the battery is nearing the end of its life and perhaps you need a new one. I can shoot all day on a single battery, though I turn off regularly and don't have preview switched on to the main screen. Batteries are available though mostly OEM. I have one Leica battery and two other brands which work just as well. Nigel
krabat Posted August 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted August 23, 2010 Hello, yes, the Digilux 2 battery lasts for three or even four days in my hands, when I am on a holiday trip. I own two batteries, both from Leica. I bought them in 2004, and they are still doing well. I am using almost exclusively the EVF and not the display. Moreover, I do not use AF, but focus manually. Both approaches save energy. Best regards, Peter.
Overgaard Posted August 23, 2010 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2010 Glad to hear about good results. As for battery, set the auto time off to 5 minutes and use the EVF and you should be able to work for a long(er) time. I have three D2 batteries and they're all getting a bit tired of life. I suspect that when batteries have been lying around in frozen cars during winter, that has an effect. I'm sure one can get batteries, original Leica or Panasonic, for quite a while and it might be worth investing in extra ones.
John Thawley Posted August 24, 2010 Share #5 Posted August 24, 2010 The Panasonic batteries for the LC 1 (Digilux 3) have more run-time than the original for the Digilux 2. They cost a bit more... both are available new from Panasonic. JT
d_lague Posted August 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted August 28, 2010 I have bought a couple of batteries on eBay that have worked well. They are 15 to 20 USD. Search D2 or Panasonic LC1
daveleo Posted August 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted August 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) i will drop my 2cents on this as well . . . the D2 makes great jpg's, so (if you can live with that) the 2Gb card is not a bad limit - actually i won't use larger cards simply as a safety issue (if a card goes bad, i only lost 1Gb or 2Gb of photos, not 8Gb ! ) also, as stated, use the EFV and get a few spare Panasonic batteries.
