Advertisement Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hi veraikon, Take a look here Voigtländer reissues the Heliar 50 /2.0 and 3.5. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
UliWer Posted August 27, 2009 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2009 Good idea! Gives hope that others will remember some old 3.5/50 Elmars and think of a reissue.

kenneth Posted August 27, 2009 Share #4 Posted August 27, 2009 Just for information :ƒwƒŠƒA[50ƒ~ƒŠF2,50ƒ~ƒŠF3.5 LTM – price 75 000/ 70 000 Yen Sadly Leica have dropped collapsables from thier range. I guess a nice example might appear second hand somewhere. I cannot however see any point in putting Japanese lenses on a Leica. Otherwise I would have stayed loyal to Nikon

veraikon Posted August 28, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted August 28, 2009 ... I cannot however see any point in putting Japanese lenses on a Leica. The first issue of the collapsible Heliar 50/3.5 was released in the "101 year Heliar" set. It is high seeked , because of its legendary sharpness. I´won´t say all japanese lenses are "Schrott" , remember Carl Zeiss let produce some (not all) lenses at the same factory Sadly Leica have dropped collapsables from thier range With some luck you can get still a new coll Elmarit 50 from a dealer. wizard Posted August 28, 2009 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) With some luck you can get still a new coll Elmarit 50 from a dealer. That should be Elmar, of course, not Elmarit. Kudos from me to Cosina for bringing out these two new LTM lenses, I always wanted Leica to produce a batch of the famous LTM 3.5/50 Elmar using the optics they had devised for the 0-series replica Leica. Alas, it never happened. Andy
earleygallery Posted August 28, 2009 Share #8 Posted August 28, 2009 Kenneth, Remember some Leica lenses were and are made by the Japanese! I use non Leica lenses on my Leica cameras - why not?! In fact, I'm pretty sure you do too. Bear in mind also that Leica have forgotten about their many many LTM fans and its only thanks to Voigtlander that we have so many options now - the Snapshot Skopar gave my lllf a new lease of life. scaryink Posted August 28, 2009 Share #11 Posted August 28, 2009 No it is just that I prefer the Leica version, and hang on isn't this a Leica form? So do you mean you prefer the name on the lens? I am the proud owner of 3 Leicas and this alone shows my enthusiasm. I didnt buy them for the name however, but because of their unique qualities - and the M mount of course. I didnt buy them for the name however, but because of their unique qualities - and the M mount of course. Firstly, I cannot see why anyone needs 3 bodies and I still maintain it is in the glass of Leica that you should invest. And, no it has nothing to do with the name. I am also hoping that someone will pick up on my interest in a 50mm 2.8 Elmar collapsable and offer it for sale
stunsworth Posted August 28, 2009 Share #14 Posted August 28, 2009 So do you mean you prefer the name on the lens? That isn't what Kenneth is saying. If he wants to use only Leica lenses that's his right, if you want to use another make that's yours. Heaven forbid that this forum goes the way of Photo.net where the expression of preference for Leica leads to an avalanche of negativity.

earleygallery Posted August 28, 2009 Share #16 Posted August 28, 2009 This is indeed the Leica forum, and as people like Voigtlander make lenses to fit our lovely Leica cameras many people here find them of interest, just as they do the many other vendors of Leica related equipment and accessories. Remember the rules for posting an image, must be a Leica camera and / or lens.

kenneth Posted August 29, 2009 Share #18 Posted August 29, 2009 The 90mm Macro collapsable is still on their list.------------------- Frans True but a 90 is not a 50 and furthermore I don't choose to use anything longer than a 75mm. Interestingly that lens gets little use that is why I opted for the cheaper and, to my mind, inferior 75mm Voigtlander Cosina 2.5 Colour Heliar. Mark Pope Posted August 29, 2009 Share #19 Posted August 29, 2009 Kenneth, Judging by some of the shots that Biglouis has been producing with his 50mm Elmar, then I don't think you will regret the purchase once you manage to get hold of one. There was one advertised on the forum (an Ebay ad IIRC) - don't know if it's still there or not. With respect to the 75mm CV lens, what do you find inferior about it? I have one and I get on very well with it, albeit on an M8 rather than film. It's excellent value and produces great results. To be honest, if you were to do a blind side-by-side comparison between the CV and Summarit lenses, I think it would be difficult to tell them apart. I had planned to replace the CV with a Summarit, but I'm happy enough with the results. Good enough is good enough in by book. Best wishes Mark
spylaw4 Posted August 29, 2009 Share #20 Posted August 29, 2009 I agree with Mark re the CV75 +M8. IIRC Sean Reid also gave it a distinct thumbs-up in comparison with the Summarit.
