Yesterday I took the plunge and bought a Billingham 225 which seems just fine. I have realised that there is no such thing as the perfect camera bag for every occasion so as women have numerous handbags I guess photographers have various ways of transporting the equipment Welcome, dear visitor! Guest Joachim_I Posted September 20, 2008 Share #4 Posted September 20, 2008 I guess photographers have various ways of transporting the equipment Very true: Tamrac 601, 608, 612, 750, Billingham VG380, Peli Case 1490, Loewe Pro Photo Trekker AW ... Over the years equipment comes and goes. Bags need to adjust. All bags were used heavily for some years (with the exception of the Tamrac 750, which is pretty useless). The big 612 carried 2 Nikon F2s with motor drives and a bunch of lenses. I am no longer that ambitious today. Back in the 80s a friend of mine lugged around a Tamrac 614 completely filled with equipment which gave his silhouette quite a distinct shape. You could recognize him from miles away ... Craftsman Posted September 20, 2008 Share #5 Posted September 20, 2008 I have the 225 in the now discontinued Stone Nytex. I searched everywhere for the bag and no one had one in stock. Robert White found what I gueess was the last new one in Nytex available. and shipped it to me. It's an excellent bag.
sketchyhead Posted September 21, 2008 Share #6 Posted September 21, 2008 Hello, I live in the New Forest in the UK and today's been the first day of summer! At 4 pm I took this shot of my worn-out Billingham, my outdate- but beautiful M6 and my outdated but beautiful Noctilux. All this equipment probably needs to be updated, but who cares? Your choice of bag is a good one. Billingham bags are well built, well designed and when they're old and battered, no one suspects you're carrying valuable equipment. earleygallery Posted September 21, 2008 Share #8 Posted September 21, 2008 Paul, Abercrombie & Fitch sell new clothes which are distressed so they look just like your bag! As for the M6 and Nocti, how can they ever become outdated?!

I have realised that there is no such thing as the perfect camera bag for every occasion so as women have numerous handbags I guess photographers have various ways of transporting the equipment Yeah.. I have a number of (Domke) bags for my 35mm stuff.. Mostly Nikon Digital.. 1 Nikon F body, still. But my 2 M-2 bodies, with DR Summicron 50, Summicron 35 and Elmarit 90 all nestle comfortably safely and perfectly in an old Tenba "P-106" bag that I picked up somewhere a while ago. It's been all over the world with me, and I've never found anything that protects the Leicas better, is still small and compact and has room for the general crap that I tend to accumulate. Unfortunately, I'm told Tenba no longer makes these. Look for a good used one.. worth it, IMHO CDM... NY, NY
