farnz Posted November 15, 2009 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a 19/2.8 Elmarit-R v2 (the one with the built-in coloured filters) and I want to attach graduated ND and polarising filters to it, preferably with the - or a - hood. I have Lee filters and numerous attachments from a previous photographic life although I would use another brand if necessary but the Elmarit doesn't have a filter thread. Does any one have any ideas or suggestions please? Thanks, Pete.

Sandokan Posted November 18, 2009 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2009 I ended up hand holding. It works with a DMR because of the crop but on full frame it is messy. I havent tried again. However, I would love to try the built in filters with B&W film if/when I revert back to film with this camera
farnz Posted November 18, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted November 18, 2009 Thanks, Ravi, I've hand held too but I tend to end up with parts of my hand featuring in most shots from my 5D II. I also used the clippy, bendy part of my Flare Buster to hold filters in front of the hood but the slightest breeze caused the filter to flap about because it's really a long cantilever arm. Pete. EJohnE Posted November 19, 2009 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2009 I have used a Cokin "Universal Ring". Cokin makes two models which may or not be compatible with Lee filters. It has three plastic hand-adjustable screws which tighten on to the outside of the lens mount. Made in two sizes - under 75mm (A system), under 85mm (F system). Those measurements refer to the front outer side of the lens mount, of course. John.
farnz Posted November 19, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks, John. I've used the Cokin system in the past but I hadn't come across the universal mount, which looks promising and I still have a number of Cokin P filters that I could use. It would mean not being able to use the 19 Elmarit's hood, which would be a problem for such a wide angle lens, but I notice that Cokin now offers a small hood that slides into the holder but I hope it won't cause vignetting.
