For Leica BP-DC15, Lumix DMW-BLG10, and Sigma BP-51 batteries, the Panasonic Lumix DE-A99 battery charger plugs directly into an electrical outlet, no cables needed. It is a compact unit, measuring approximately 2 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches.

The Panasonic DMW-BLG10 is interchangeable with the Leica battery. I use both the Leica BP-DC-15 and the Panasonic DMW-BLG10 in my D-Lux 8 and D-Lux 7. The Sigma BP-51 battery will also work, but I haven't tried one.

Sorry to report that the D-Lux 7 grip doesn't fit on the D-Lux 8. I tried to fit one. The base of D-Lux 8 is slightly different dimensions.

My battery behaved the same as prymsnap's.

I didn't find any link to download D-Lux 8 firmware version 1.2.0 after I clicked on the link shown above.

A printed copy of the D-Lux 8 instructions isn't available, I learned when I asked Leica Wetzlar software support: "Please be informed that our Leica D-LUX 8 comes only with a printed quick start guide. Due to very low demand for a printed version in the past and environmental considerations, we do not offer a printed version. "The detailed instructions is only available in PDF format for download from our website: https://leica-camera.com/sites/default/files/pm-111410-leica-d-lux8_instructions_de_1.0.pdf" The PDF is 215 pages.
