Leica at Mayfair told me today that their price for this lens is 2,805 pounds. Unless i was hearing things, that's a 406 pound difference. Am i right about this, i just thought i would double check here. The Mayfair people said i could try out different lenses on my cam, the price seems a little high though?? When benefiting of Leica rebate last february, I bought my 50 Lux ASPH new from them 1650 euros excl. VAT. Plus they're fast, reliable, and nice to talk to. R G Lewis are usually flexible on price - especially if you point out to them who is selling it cheaper! I got a 50 lux, new for £1900 from them. Ffordes are usually the most competitive amongst UK dealers but it really depends upon the item (a recent example is the SF58 flash I am buying - £520 at Red Dot, £437 at Robert White, £479 at Ffordes). Generally they do have it in stock. And they apply every warranty. (My 2 lenses are covered for 2 years with the Leica original passport card). Ffordes are a Leica Premier Dealer so the full Warranty and Passport etc deals apply. They have been Leica specialists for many a year now and normally have in stock most items (M9 excepted of course - enough said about that) their Leica turnover is high though (both new and used) and on occasions they can obviously sell out of certain things. I have a theory about why some 35 Summilux lenses show focus shift and others not but I'm too lazy to explain it. I'm not convinced it has anything to do with the material used (brass v. aluminium) in the construction of the lens. Incidentally, I wouldn't buy a 35 Summilux now unless you desperately want one - there are credible rumours that a revised version is not far away (although it will presumably come at a price).
