yuweimichael Posted November 24, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 24, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I saw on the M8 instruction. It may cause damage to the M8 when you use M8 with 90mm macro. But, i have 90mm macro + macro adapter. Will this combination works fine with M8 ? Sorry, I am not professional so maybe this quesiton has aleready answered before. Please let me know.

chetccox Posted November 24, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 24, 2006 Where exactly do you see this in the manual? Page 86 is quite clear on the matter, and says it can be used without restrictions.
ho_co Posted November 24, 2006 Share #3 Posted November 24, 2006 Michael-- You're right, the manual is confusing on that point, but Leica clarified it for me: There was an earlier 90/4 collapsible lens that cannot be used. But the 90/4 Macro will work fine on the M8. As I recall, when you collapse the current lens, it doesn't protrude behind the mount. The previous 90/4 collapsed far into the body because it didn't have the bulk required by the second focusing mount on the current lens. --HC
marknorton Posted November 25, 2006 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2006 They both work fine with the M8 and the lens doesn't cause any problems. The angle finder works too...

chrism Posted November 25, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 25, 2006 Does the macro adaptor allow proper focussing on the M8 - the different viewfinder magnification doesn't interfere? Chris
marknorton Posted November 25, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 25, 2006 Key to know is that when you use the macro adapter, the lens is turned through 180 degrees, so that a different profile cam on the lens is used to focus. There's a different distance scale as well. It works just as you would expect, the framing is slightly approximate and of course the depth of field is very shallow. It doesn't go to 1:1 but it does got to 1:3.
