I use the leicagoodies sfill diffuser, and the leica wide angle diffuser that came with the flash. What else can I stick in there to tame it down? Guest mc_k Posted October 30, 2009 Share #23 Posted October 30, 2009 ...I have a piece or two of special-purpose plastic diffusing material wedged on the back side of the Sfill (and also the "filter" that came with the Sfill). I have tried cutting up milk jugs, too. Diffusers are a DIY paradise. If you haven't already glued Velcro to your 24, there is a Lumiquest LQ-117 Velcro cinch strap that works great for the Sfill, or to attach homemade stuff. In that case, TTL takes care of everything from the light to the sensor, incorporating as the the ISO. The only way to influence that, is use the override function on the flash. I don't have a 24D, so it's a bit of guessing. My Metz doesn't funnily allow this in M-GNC mode (TTL is meant to be used for the M6TTL and the M7), so I'm basically using mostly an older Nikon SB27 in A mode, which I can tell whatever I like and he believes it :-D Cheers Ivo Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

You can compensate on the flash 5 stops in Manual and 3 in GNC with 1/3 intervals, and 3 stops in Auto with full stop intervals. It is my understanding the Metz branded flashes don't have the compensation in GNC, except for the 76 whatever-it-is model. The consensus seems to be the SF24 is inconsistent in the GNC setting, and most use it in Auto, and some in Manual. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

But other things (Photoshop comes to mind) you just have to mess around with it a bit and see what it does. brill64 Posted November 10, 2009 Share #27 Posted November 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) to get just a "wink" of flash out of my sf24d on my m8 i have cut 2 strips of coated inkjet paper with a peice of tissue sandwiched in between and placed that inside the diffuser that came with the flash. i set it to manual, -5ev and f1.0. wink! laborious but seems to work Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
