I know that C1 is the way to go, but, I've committed to finishing out my season this year with Lightroom. Yesterday I downloaded and installed the new 2.5 version and had some issues, shown below, with the output vs. version 2.4.

Leica M8

First using Lightroom 2.4

Next using Lightroom 2.5

LR25test.jpg

(Both are 100% crops "saved for web" in PS3 at 100% quality)

I switched back to 2.4 successfully and will wait for 2.6 before upgrading.

I agree second image is unacceptable. You write they are output from PS3 - what is your workflow?

There is however a lot of purple fringing on your first photo. Did you maybe take output of one and feed it into LR2.5?

I may have overstated how I saved the previews. They came from screenshots (PNG) which I cropped (not resized) using PS3's "save for web" to show the most offensive areas of that particular image.

The fringing is something I am noticing more & more in Lightroom as opposed to C1. At least this image was destined for the trash bin anyway as the subject was out of focus.

I saw the same thing with other images, especially with flyaway hair, which prompted me to "downgrade" back to 2.4.

Weird situation.

From the Lightroom Journal, September 26, 2009: Adobe found a bug in Lightroom 2.5 that affects Macs with Power PC chips, causing artifacts in highlight areas.

The above link includes another link to an example on Flickr.

The solution for the Power PC: Uninstall Lightroom 2.5 and install Lightroom 2.4.
