sblutter Posted October 5, 2009 Share #1 Posted October 5, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Am a 50mm lover... I can't find a definitive answer - am hoping to hear from someone that was either successful or not. I know they coded it but will it fully retract? - the manual says just the 90 macro is approved. How about on the 8? I've got a few collapsibles already - love how easy it is to slip an M under a jacket or into a winter coat pocket. It would seem logical to me it would. The distance from lens mount to film plane has to be identical in either film or digi. If it fits one, why not the other? The space has to be empty to allow light in. Am I missing something? Thanks - I'd love a rig with body and fully collapsed 50 for walking around
Advertisement Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Hi sblutter, Take a look here Does current Elmar 50 Collaps retract fully into the 9?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
bill Posted October 5, 2009 Share #2 Posted October 5, 2009 Search is a really useful function. It saves you time and stops people getting irritated when the same question comes around again and again: http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/leica-m9-forum/100675-elmar-m-50-mm-f-2-a.html Regards, Bill
sblutter Posted October 5, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted October 5, 2009 Bill, Thanks so much for putting up with one of the throng anxious to receive their 9 and make new work. I just ordered a coded current Elmar to temporarily relieve my twitching shutter finger...

tom0511 Posted October 6, 2009 Share #5 Posted October 6, 2009 Just some days ago I shot some images with the 50/2.8 on my M9 in comparison with the 50asph. While the asph is more contrasty the 50 Elmar has a very nice drawing IMO. Using it as a 50mm lens again it becomes more flexible than it was on the M8 IMO. I plan to use it more often.
