Advertisement Posted July 5, 2007 Posted July 5, 2007 Hi andybarton, Take a look here Numbers? Berlin Challenge 13/10/07. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted July 6, 2007 Author Share #102 Posted July 6, 2007 I know that October is 3 months away, but if there is a gang of us, we ought to get some numbers and then book a table somewhere suitable. I will stick this thread for a fortnight, so that we can get an idea of who would like to join fellow forumites for dinner on the Saturday. (No need to respond if you have already done so, of course) We will try to get a deal like we did in Paris last year. Ta.
carstenw Posted July 6, 2007 Share #103 Posted July 6, 2007 Thorsten, this is very far from the biergarten, so it would be hard to find a hotel which was convenient for both locations. Anyway, in that area is also the Schwarzes Café, a dingy old restaurant/bar/café from before the wall came down which has excellent food.

andybarton Posted July 6, 2007 Author Share #108 Posted July 6, 2007 Rob Howzatt? 13/10/07 Berlin Germany Cheap flight to Gatwick, then cheaper flight to Berlin. Simple pimple.
Iron Flatline Posted July 7, 2007 Share #109 Posted July 7, 2007 Can you assist with a suitable venue for a supper, Iron? Fundamentally yes, but I will need some guidance on what everyone's expectations are - I'm new here. Do people come and go, are we looking more for a bar with a dinner menu or actually a restaurant with a big table or corner for us? I assume you're collecting the head-count, so we have a sense of how many we actually are. Too many might render a supper unwieldy. Then there's the question of what people are willing to spend on dinner. If EU 7 is all people are willing to spend we may as well just loiter outside of a Burger King. Lemme know. spylaw4 Posted July 7, 2007 Share #110 Posted July 7, 2007 So far I'm still in. As far as dinner cost goes - diificult to say as I'm not sure of the comparison with London - but I would be happy with around £20-30 equivalent for food (3 course). andybarton Posted July 7, 2007 Author Share #111 Posted July 7, 2007 We spent €30 a head last year, but I suspect hat there was some deal struck, as it was the best €30 meal I have ever had!
stunsworth Posted July 7, 2007 Share #112 Posted July 7, 2007 I think up to 40 - 50 Euros would be about right. As Andy says last year we paid 30 Euros - that included all the wine which is what made the deal exceptional, specially close to Opera. Restaurant or bar with food? I'd be happy with either and would willingly go along with what everyone else prefered.

robsteve Posted July 7, 2007 Share #114 Posted July 7, 2007 Rob Howzatt? 13/10/07 Berlin Germany Cheap flight to Gatwick, then cheaper flight to Berlin. Simple pimple. I will have to check the airline schedules, but there are some cheap flights from here (Halifax) to europe, but they may be over by October, then it gets quite expensive.
