carbonadam Posted September 28, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well at least I have some idea now when I will be gaining possession of my M9. I recently noticed that Amazon the M9 is no longer easily searchable and is listed as: Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. Still my order now has that delivery date so we shall see. Fingers crossed. The one thing that sucks is that I will miss all the fall foliage this year with my new Leica. pnoble Posted September 28, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 28, 2009 Well at least I have some idea now when I will be gaining possession of my M9. I recently noticed that Amazon the M9 is no longer easily searchable and is listed as: Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock. As of now the M9 is completely removed from Amazon's site. Even if one clicks through on a banner announcement on the introduction of the M9 and X1, you will only find the X1 listed. Amazon is a company that consistently under promises and over delivers which is why I buy everything from them. My guess is that they are very tough with any vendor who can't give them realistic delivery to meet their orders in hand. (They have not directly offered the LM3 or D-Lux 4 for months.) I have the M9 on order with them too but have not yet received a ship date. What day did you put your order in, Carbonadam?

pnoble Posted September 29, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2009 Here are links to the M9 on Amazon: Black Amazon.com: Leica M9 18MP Digital Range Finder Camera (Black, Body Only): Camera & Photo Gray Amazon.com: Leica M9 18MP Digital Range Finder Camera (Steel Gray, Body Only): Camera & Photo Rocky Interesting, Rocky. You can't find the M9 from a search. Not a good sign when Amazon essentially delists it. It typically would mean that Amazon has lost confidence in Leica's ability to meet Amazon's current orders in hand in a timely fashion. Amazon does not like leaving their customers hanging. Since B&H does not have any stock either it would seem that Leica is focusing on their mom & pop dealers initially. Maybe a smart strategy, and maybe not. I personally will only buy from Amazon or B&H. I don't have the time or inclination to seek out and schmooze a local camera dealer to get one and don't want to purchase from a mail order source I don't 100% trust, especially a camera and lens costing together $11,000. I personally haven't been inside a camera store in many years. I'm sure I'm not alone. Times they are a changing.
stunsworth Posted September 29, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 29, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Since B&H does not have any stock either it would seem that Leica is focusing on their mom & pop dealers initially An alternative interpretation could be that all the M9s B&H are receiving are being used to satisfy people who pre-ordered the camera.
