So what about scratched M9 LCD screens?

Please, be more creative ... this one has been said a thousand times on this forum.

Actually, I shoot whenever I can, but a lumbago prevents me to do so this week and left me in bed. Of course, this is the internet you could not know, no big deal. Sorry, I will not share the great shots I took of my cats from my bed ... ;)

And I do care because since the M9 has been released, I see claims all over the board on missing features, many not strictly related to shooting. As a M owner, I have my say in what I would like/would not like the M to become. Saphire glass is a fancy little thing, if Leica succeeds taking some cost out by not including it, fine with me. I obviously don't ask you to agree with that, this is my opinion, 2 cents if you prefer.

I don't take shots of my cats, you can try looking at my photos, link below, but even if I did, so what? You seem to feel that people who don't try to emulate 1960's street photographers are worthy of your disdain. Yes this forum has predictably boring comments from a lot of grumpy (probably middle aged) men who don't shoot very interesting images. Yes I get tired of them too. So ignore them. The Leica forum is a big tent. There are plenty of very talented photographers on this forum too and plenty of people who are less than talented photographers who contribute useful interesting info in other ways. Just because you're cooped up, give us a break. Take a happy pill.

This thread happens to be include someone doing something interesting to solve a problem. I happen to think the saphire glass on my 8.2 is a real improvement over my somewhat scratched lcd on my M8 and I do check every shot I take even if briefly. I want an M9 and I don't want the glass to get scratched. It annoys me when I check my images. Why does that bother you? Why do you try to put me down as a fondler and chimper? It's my images that should bother you or not, not how I get them.

You seem to confuse your 2 cent opinion about a camera with a somewhat less valuable opinion of the human beings here.

Then why did Leica offer it in the first place with M8.2?

There is a demand.

To differentiate it from the M8.1 I would think and ask for a price increase. My M8 is three years old and I only managed to scratch it a month ago, even then, it has no impact on the viewing once the screen is lit.

I very well agree about your argument on durability. Spot on, but I do not feel the current LCD is the main weak spot. My shutter has faults (when it is cold) and the rangefinder gets misaligned too often. This does have an impact on my pictures and IMO does not match the durability/quality claim of Leica.

This is your own interpretation. My initial post was humourous, the regular forum teasing that Plasticman taught me ;) . You turned it into a personal thing, so sorry if you took it that bad. I'll gladly take the Happy pill, make sure you take one too :)

Thanks for this. Just ordered a GGS screen from Ca vis eBay.

I did have a plastic sheet on my M8 for a short time, but it fell off. As in fact did my contact lens on a recent wedding shoot.
