leica007 Posted September 26, 2009 Share #21 Posted September 26, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Initially I bought two lenses with my M8, the 28 elmarit and the 50 cron. .... I also now have the 28 cron and use both, the elmarit is so tiny and sharp, as is the cron. Jeff If you had to choose only one between 28 elmarit and 28 cron, which one would it be? khemani Posted September 26, 2009 Author Share #22 Posted September 26, 2009 It is great lens, and dont feel that you have purchased something 'inferior' when everyone raves about the 28 cron B&W for now? Jeff hi jeff, interesting - so if i shoot b&w, the infrared is not an issue? thanks! -y
delander † Posted September 26, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 26, 2009 If you had to choose only one between 28 elmarit and 28 cron, which one would it be? Well as the cron is f2 it is the more versatile lens so I would choose that. Jeff
delander † Posted September 26, 2009 Share #24 Posted September 26, 2009 hi jeff, interesting - so if i shoot b&w, the infrared is not an issue? thanks! -y Some mention that there is a small issue with IR light not focusing exactly as visible light but you probably have to look hard for the effect. jvan01 Posted September 26, 2009 Share #25 Posted September 26, 2009 if you don't take pictures of synthetic black materials you'll be OK without an IR filter.
Jeff S Posted September 26, 2009 Share #26 Posted September 26, 2009 if you don't take pictures of synthetic black materials you'll be OK without an IR filter. But, if not shooting just bw, colors will be generally improved with IR/UV filter, not just synthetic blacks. Doesn't mean you can't get decent results without it, especially with PP, but it helps.
