Only if it starts losing capacity, has shown some issue or has been formatted in another camera.

Guest roey Posted September 25, 2009 Share #23 Posted September 25, 2009 The user profiles saves EVERYTHING in the menus - I'm certain this is the right way to go. Ideally one would be able to specify what settings that are managed by a given profile (think: Lightroom presets). Given the limited display real estate and user input affordances of the M8, however, this might not be feasible.

Delete them when the card is in the card reader? Formatting the card in the camera is just easier, for me, then deleting them in the card reader. On the M8 I used to format like you. Quick and simple.. On the M9 it is simply too slow and there is no real advantage anyway.

Makes me wonder why Leica bothers to have a Delete All feature at all. I have been using Format instead of Delete All on all my digital cameras because eight years or so ago I had heard that my camera at that time had the tendency to corrupt the file system on the card, so it seemed safer to format it on a regular basis. When I started using my current M8 I just continued this proven (but maybe unnecessary) regimen. So, do we have any hard evidence that using Delete All is unsafe?
