jlancasterd Posted September 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 22, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Whilst I was at Cambrian this afternoon taking delivery of my nice new Summarit 35mm lens I was told that the Leica rep for North Wales has suggested holding a Leica M9 day for anyone in the area who is interested in seeing, and handling, one of these cameras. Thursday October 8 was mentioned as a possiblity. Cambrian Photography is located in the centre of Colwyn Bay at 87-89 Abergele Road (the main road through the town), On-street parking is usually available within easy walking distance. HI John Colwyn Bay on October 8th seems unlikely but enjoy your new summarit . . . a lovely lens!

jlancasterd Posted October 8, 2009 Author Share #6 Posted October 8, 2009 I'm just back from the Cambrian Leica day. The Rep had brought a steel grey M9 and a pre-production X1. He 'couldn't comment' on the size of the backlog in M9 orders, but it is plainly considerable. He did however confirm that the recent hiatus in deliveries was caused by a shortage of supplies of one particular part, sourced from an outside contractor. I got the impression that this may now have been resolved. It's possible that, if a large number of bodies has been completed which are only missing one part, there may be a sudden spurt of deliveries in the not-too-distant future. He confirmed that black cameras are more popular than grey and hinted that Leica are 'reviewing' the steel grey finish with the object of eliminating the 'fingerprint magnet' problem. 250swb Posted October 8, 2009 Share #7 Posted October 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) My local dealer suggests all current orders should be completed by early to mid November at the rate stocks are arriving, so I would guess this is similar throughout the UK. Apparently no grey cameras have arrived yet so it may be a bit pre-mature to change the finish if hardly anybody has handled it yet? I'm a bit jealous you have had a play with one though, mine will be 'sight unseen' when I hand over my credit card! Steve
