rick_dykstra Posted September 27, 2009 Share #63 Â Posted September 27, 2009 Jaap, congrats on getting your camera at last. What a worry it would have been. Â Weighing up the pros and cons of delivery methods, one thing I like about the post is that if anyone is thieving they do get caught eventually and do go to jail. Courier companies tend to cover up the thieving that happens in their systems. Â A staffer of mine sent a pair of computers between capital cities last year, by post. They disappeared. Upon reporting the failed delivery I was greatly impressed with the speed and energy of the Australia Post investigation. They were kicking doors in all along the route. Didn't find 'em, but by golly they must have put the wind up a few petty crims.
hammam Posted September 27, 2009 Share #64 Â Posted September 27, 2009 I've had one experience with DHL, and it was terrible. Also, they are probably the most expensive shipping company in the world. Never, ever deal with DHL! Do not buy items if your seller insists on shipping with DHL! In my book they are a bunch of careless amateurs and crooks. wlaidlaw Posted September 27, 2009 Share #65 Â Posted September 27, 2009 I've had one experience with DHL, and it was terrible. Also, they are probably the most expensive shipping company in the world. Never, ever deal with DHL! Do not buy items if your seller insists on shipping with DHL! In my book they are a bunch of careless amateurs and crooks. Â Sadly that seems to apply to all the major courier companies. I think the one I have had fewest bad experiences with, over the years, is Fedex and the worst UPS but that is probably just happenstance and others' experiences will be the reverse. Â Their instinct when something goes wrong is to: 1) deny there is a problem 2) lie about it 3) cover up 4) procrastinate in the hope that the item will turn up/un-break itself 5) blame someone else (poor packaging/poor labelling/etc) Â I suppose the companies start with good intentions but once they see what an awful service the others provide, can overcharge for and get away, they think "why should we bother?"
