Advertisement Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 Hi jmr, Take a look here Trinity Bridge, across the Irwell. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
john_r_smith Posted July 6, 2006 Share #2  Posted July 6, 2006 John  this is a terrific picture. Really excellent technically and aesthetically, the composition and tonal range are spot-on.  Envious of Cornwall
jlancasterd Posted July 6, 2006 Share #3 Â Posted July 6, 2006 Great shot John - it really typifies the 'new Manchester'. Â Time was when the Irwell, which this bridge spans, was the most polluted river in Europe and it was claimed that, if you fell in, you suffocated rather than drowned. It even caught fire on occasions due to the petrochemicals floating on the surface. Â The last time I visited this area there were people fishing from the opposite bank - I could hardly believe my eyes. I'm not sure that I would want to eat anything caught there even now - there must be a fortune in heavy metals in the silt...! Â John Dobson
