LKeithR Posted September 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2009 In a dry scan the negative (or print) is pressed onto the scanner bed by the backup plate. While this works pretty well the negative may not be perfectly flat - anyplace it doesn't touch the bed will be ever so slightly out of focus. In a wet scan the negative is, in essence, temporarily "glued" to a sheet of flat glass with a non-destructive fluid. This means that the item being scanned is "flatter", therefore allowing for more accurate focusing... Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
