If P's pictures tend to be sharp and more or less correctly exposed, how about a profusely illustrated history of photography? Ages ago I got a lot of inspiration and understanding from the original Thames & Hudson Concise HIstory of Photography (ed. Gernsheim). Unfortunately that's out of print and the current Concise History has too much text and not enough pictures, but there are others on the market. If P wants to get more of a grasp on the theory and practice, go for solid manuals such as Michael Langford's Basic Photography and Advanced Photography. batmobile Posted September 19, 2009 Share #22 Posted September 19, 2009 Technical - well, the options are endless Pictures - It depends on what you like or want to achieve Head - Tao of Photography (for a person who feels that technically the problems they face are not a big deal to fix, but would like to think more about seeing and the fusion of instinct and technical know how, this book is very handy.
