You are where I was until a couple of months ago. :-) Using film and waiting for the full frame R solution. With the demise of the R being announced I bought a DMR and have been amazed with its performance. I agree with you that film is less expensive, if one doesn't shoot too many rolls a year. I worked out that a new DMR would cost the equivalent of around 180 rolls - film, processing and mounts. Because I loved the look of trannies, along with slide nights with the family, and didn't like the 1.38 crop factor, I waited. And waited, and waited. I was hoping to emerge feeling clever about having waited. Nope. I'm confident in saying that if you were to give a DMR a try, you would like it. Very much.
