Advertisement Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 Hi caparobertsan, Take a look here Who want`s FF upgrade option for M8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ljclark Posted September 14, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 14, 2009 In the U.S. you can get the upgrade for about $5,000. You sell your M8 (should be able to get around $2,000* -- if it's in good shape) and apply that to an M9. Pretty simple. *We'll need to see where prices stabilize. He told me 9 is good but 8 is better.I like 8 personally. You see what had happend to R9? Do it the other way round.... a) Buy an M9. Ask Leica for an M8 top plate. c) Swap it with your M9's top plate. d) Be prepared for people asking you why the small display doesn't work... GMB Posted September 14, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 14, 2009 Forget it. 1) Leica would have to invest R&D to allow this. They better focus their R&D on the M10. 2) Even if Leica came up with a solution, it would be too expensive. This is not simply take out old sensor and put in new. Many other things need to be changed. And Leica would have charge for the extra guarantee. Just remember how expensive the upgrade for the M8 was -- and the upgrade was nothing compared to putting a M9 sensor into the M8.
offshore Posted September 14, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 14, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I do not want a FF sensor in my M8 but do want some of the firmware improvements in the M9 in my M8. I would pay for a processor improvement upgrade. If I want FF I'll buy an M9.

caparobertsan Posted September 17, 2009 Author Share #16 Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks everyone. But If we send email to Leica for the request, they might consider this option. Seriously! But Why do they have to loose top lcd window and cut corner like that. Very ugry.
