erl Posted November 20, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) O.K. I knew it all along. I was going to buy the damn thing ...... so did + the 2.8/28mm lens. Just got it home and a job came in. Working on it now. Of all times to get work, So far, the most annoying feature is that it does NOT come with a battery charging adapter for Australian powewr plugs. So I am at this moment charging it my car cirarette lighter. Now that is a GOOD standard feature. I will driven on a bit later in the day or evening when work has been completed. I will also put my pragmatic POV on why I bought right now (Monday morning in Oz), but not in Germany. Cheers, Erl

kaimaui Posted November 20, 2006 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2006 If you take a pair of plyers you can twist the us plugs a littel an they will the fit the australian plugs. I do it all the time. Actually end up bending them back and forwards depending on where i am. KAI O.K. I knew it all along. I was going to buy the damn thing ...... so did + the 2.8/28mm lens. marknorton Posted November 20, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 20, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) Leica's recommendation is to change the Australian electrical plug standard The charger is made by Ansmann, and if you look at their web-site (ANSMANN - INTERNATIONAL PORTAL), you'll see pictures of the same clip-in adapters for use with Austrailian power outlets. Maybe the Australian distributor could help: Soanar Electronic Component Solutions 9 Civic Square Croydon, Victoria 3136 Tel: +61 / (0)3 / 9724 0888 Fax: +61 / (0)3 / 9724 0878 E-Mail: info@soanar.com.au Web: http://www.soanar.com.au
erl Posted November 20, 2006 Author Share #8 Posted November 20, 2006 Thanks all for you replies. Especially Mark, you seem to have all thr "vitals" at your fingertips. Actually, I am pretty flat out at present making the M8 pay for itself. It barely got home and was "called out" on a job!. rick_dykstra Posted November 20, 2006 Share #9 Posted November 20, 2006 Erl, I'll be in your neck of the woods in few weeks. I'll bring my soldering iron and wire cutters and we'll whack an Aussie plug on that sucker in no time (if you haven't done it already). Congrats on the big decision. The right one. Enjoy. Send me a PM when you are travelling and I will give you full contact details. Larry, give me a few days to familiarize myself, in between work, to get the images stabilized before I post.
