fnuernberger Posted September 11, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wearing glasses, I couldn't see the 35mm framelines properly in the .68 finder. Does Leica offer à la carte modifications if you're ready to pay for 'em? Like a .58 finder and a camera body without the "M9" and the red dot? Advertisement Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Hi fnuernberger, Take a look here M9 à la carte??. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
marknorton Posted September 11, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2009 They never offered anything similar on the M8, aside from some cosmetics like engraving and alternative covers so the answer is probably no. If Leica would stop congratulating themselves for one minute and recognise that 7 wide-angle lenses are not supported by the M9 viewfinder, the 2 28s are marginal and, by their own admission, the 135 is as well with a magnifier recommended for the 2 75s and the 3 90s, they might conclude the M9 viewfinder is no longer fit for purpose. Frank According to Seins review, they have indicated that they might introduce it in the future, but at the moment the M9 is only delivered with standard magnification. jrh68uk Posted September 11, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 11, 2009 "Standard" in this case being .68 - the same as the M8 - rather than .72, which is the standard for the M7 and MP. I'd have thought it would have made sense to have the same standard vf magnification as the current film Ms now that the M9 sports the same "sensor" size and brightline frames as the M7/MP. sam3k Posted September 11, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 11, 2009 I think the 0.68 is due to the M8/M9 having a thicker body than an M7. Otherwise it is the same finder as a M7 0.
