So here's what I'd HOPE the announcement would be: "Dear Leica M8 User: To resolve reported issues with your M8, please proceed as follows: 1) Turn power switch off. 2) While holding MENU button, turn power on. Continue to hold MENU button until heading "Diagnostic Menu" appears on monitor screen. 3) Navigating diagnostic menu in the usual manner using controller, locate the following menu items and change the default settings as follows: -- "Function 17: Increased IR Sensitivity" -- change from "On" [default] to "Off" as desired to remove magenta cast from shadow areas. -- "Function 39: Write Overexposure Warning Bars to File" -- change from "On" [default] to "Off" to remove horizontal bars marking areas of extreme overexposure. -- "Function 666: Paranormal ectoplasm sensitivity" -- change from "High" [default] to "Normal" or "Low" to reduce incidence of green ghost images. When finished, navigate to "Exit" option and select to return to normal operation. Note that revised custom settings will be lost if camera battery reaches full discharge condition.
