FYI, for those interested, Aperture 2.1.4 running on Snow Leopard can read both compressed and uncompressed M9 DNGs. Seems to be doing are fairly credible job to; a bit better than LR on these IMHO(images from Joakim (MMX_2), btw)

Aperture first, LR second, both completely default settings.

Just high blood pressure - he's close to buying an M9:D

That's why I'm not buying. The price would raise my blood pressure :-). I'm happy for those who can genuinely dish out the cash for this latest incarnation of the M.

The firmware will surely be updated, and rapidly one hopes. Also, profiles in RAW software need to be addressed rapidly also. In many pics we are seeing, the lighting is plain horrible and no amount of photographic fixes will change that.

To form impressions, we need to take and view pics under controlled conditions or you will be dealing with an unknown number of variables, which is a pointless exercise. Certainly not a way to form "purchasing" decisions.

I have seen great samples from the M9 in the Leica gallery which do not have these red skin tones. This can easily be fixed by calibrating your camera to a color checker and saving the profiles for different lighting conditions (daylight, tungsten etc.). I would not judge the M9 from snapshot photos taken at the Leica store counter.

We could just do a direct M8 and M9 comparison though as a starting point, if we knew someone who had both cameras.

I'm concerned that we haven't had this yet. It leaves me to worry that there may be no discernible difference (or worse).
