chris_tribble Posted September 10, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) Logged in to "my products" area on the owners site and there's no M9 listed! Anyone been able to register their's yet? I don't need the free Lightroom (though I can pass it to a friend ) but the free LFI for 6 months is always fun... Suggestions? Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi chris_tribble, Take a look here M9 registration glitch. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
andybarton Posted September 10, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 10, 2009 As I said in an identical thread last night, give them a chance...
erlingmm Posted September 10, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 10, 2009 I had the same experience, and sent then an e-mail about it. I think we just have to wait until they update the site, they should know by now that the M9 is out ;-)
chris_tribble Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #4 Posted September 10, 2009 As I said in an identical thread last night, give them a chance... Andy - sorry - missed that one! Even so - as LR is there preferred software, it would have been sensible to have it accessible immediately....
andybarton Posted September 10, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 10, 2009 Do you have to register on line to get a SN for Lightroom then? do you have to download a copy of Lightroom from Leica? (Apologies if this has been asked /answered already, I can't keep up with the posts in the sub-forum...)
stunsworth Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 Andy, the easiest thing for someone to do is to download the trial version of Lightroom from Adobe. That will remain fully functional for 30 days. When they then receive their serial number it's just a case of entering it.
Marty Posted September 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) The owners' page says registration is possible from the 16th. I guess non-Lightroom owners like me will need to follow Steve's advice and use a trial until then.
Shootist Posted September 10, 2009 Share #8 Posted September 10, 2009 Andy - sorry - missed that one! Even so - as LR is there preferred software, it would have been sensible to have it accessible immediately.... Just what do you mean by that? It is only a download, IE NO disk sent with the camera? Is there a serial number for LR supply with the camera and is it good for any current version of LR? If there is a serial number can't you just download the trial version from adobe and apply the serial to make it a full/registered version? Or is the LR version supplied with the M9 only downlaodable from Leica? And is it possibly limited in some way to work only with M9 files?
chris_tribble Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #9 Posted September 10, 2009 Looks like you can immediately download the evaluation version of LR (30 day limit) and wait to get the license number from Leica after the 16th - I can't see Leica having their own download area for this. So there is no serial number for LR supplied with the M9 camera, as of yet (maybe later arrivals) and you have to wait for Leica to send you a serial number? But what is the determining factor for Leica to know you have a M9 and they need to send you a serial number? Sounds all to complicated if you are not already a LR or PS CS2/3/4 ACR users. andybarton Posted September 10, 2009 Share #11 Posted September 10, 2009 You register the Serial Number of your M9. Leica send you a serial number for Lightroom. What's complicated about that?
Shootist Posted September 10, 2009 Share #12 Posted September 10, 2009 You register the Serial Number of your M9. Leica send you a serial number for Lightroom. What's complicated about that? Well Chris was talking about the user/owner section of the Leica website. That is to register, log, the Leica gear you own for your own referrence. I use that area myself and since they don't have a entry for the M9 yet it is totally useless and useless for actually registering any gear for the purpose of the warranty. Looking at the US M9 page there is no link to register the M9 for the LR serial number. Wouldn't it of been simpler to supply this on a card in the box with the camera? Seems so to me. Especially since here in the USA you have to send in the warranty registration card to Leica NJ USA to have it registered to you and activate the warranty. Overgaard Posted September 10, 2009 Share #13 Posted September 10, 2009 Lightroom 30 day trial is a full working software. No changes from trail to the bought edition.

Leica have already asked people to be patient while they get their website and databases sorted. You can use Lightroom for 30 days without registering any product at all, anywhere, so you're not missing out on any functionality until 08/10/09 Before the end of 30 days, they will have their systems sorted and you can have your Lightroom trial converted to a permanent copy. Give them a chance at Solms - there aren't very many of them, and they have obviously been very, very busy.
