M9/M8 head-scratcher

A couple of considerations in this feeding frenzy revolve around the question of what to do if you're an M8 shooter, and don't really want to sell off a perfectly good M8 for half the price you paid for it (or perhaps a quarter of the price, if you try to trade it in.)

The problem is those damned UV/IR cut filters. Using an M8 with an M9 companion seems awkward to me, with one taking filters and the other not. On the other hand, M8s are now fairly cheap -- $2500 on AFF (America's Favorite Fence.) Two M8s rather than an M8 and an M9, and save $5,000?

I *really* need to wait a few weeks to see comparisons between the two machines, no matter how serious the Gear Acquisition Syndrome becomes.

No more M8's will ensure that mortals who will never be able to afford an M9 but want a digital rangefinder will keep the trade in price high and sooner or later the M9 price will fall (the current price of an M8 is less than I paid), I like my 35 Summicron being 50 and my 90 Elmarit being 110 and they revert when on my M6 and when the price is right and a silver chrome version available and the wife is in a home for the confused and I control the household buget and a free pair of noculars included then I might not be tempted. What will get up my nose will be the posts which tell me that an M9 is being used and the shots are crap and everyone says "How beautiful".

And what was wrong with keeping the M8 in parallel manufacture and why such a hike in price, are we bing lllc lens fitting'ed.
