clayh Posted November 19, 2006 Share #1 Posted November 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) For Immediate Release Leica Camera AG - Solms, Germany Customer feedback to Leica customer service over the last two weeks has brought to our attention that under certain conditions, the superlative new Leica M8 camera may record certain image colors not observable by ordinary human eyesight. After extensive investigation by our engineering and design team, we have determined that the new M8 camera is the best digital camera ever made, and has no flaws whatsoever. Rather, the problem lies with the imperfect ability of the human eye to perceive infrared wavelengths of light. Thus, Leica has decided to recall and replace 7.5 billion pairs of human eyes, which will be upgraded to this advanced infrared perception ability. Existing M8 customers will of course have priority for the eye upgrade, and three $100 coupons will be issued to each existing M8 owner to offset the cost of upgrading the eyes of people who may be looking at the photographs created by the M8 owner. We apologize that imperfect human eyesight has caused this confusion, but Leica management are committed to doing what they can to correct this design flaw in human being

scott kirkpatrick Posted November 19, 2006 Share #7 Posted November 19, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's one remaining fix required. Eliminate purple from the Internet. Declare it black. This is out of consideration for those who are not M8 purchases or close friends thereof. scott
Vivek Iyer Posted November 19, 2006 Share #8 Posted November 19, 2006 What upsets me the most is that Solms (or Kodak for that matter) either has no clue about the camera's (or sensor's) UV or IR sensitivity or are unwilling to disclose it (just to give them a little benefit of doubt). Epson R-D1(s) and Nikon D-70 cameras have very good sensitivities for UV and IR. These were not disclosed by their respective manufacturers either. See: Film Lives! ● View topic - Leica M8. UV friendly?

benjamin Posted November 19, 2006 Share #10 Posted November 19, 2006 I don't want to send my eyes to Leica for fix. What if they get lost in the mail? I rather wear IR-Cut filter in front of my eye-glasses.
cmb_ Posted November 19, 2006 Share #11 Posted November 19, 2006 If I send my eyes to Leica for a fix, then will I see the whole world with the "Leica Glow"? For what then would I need the camera? More decisions!
