Leica Camera AG - Solms, Germany

Customer feedback to Leica customer service over the last two weeks has brought to our attention that under certain conditions, the superlative new Leica M8 camera may record certain image colors not observable by ordinary human eyesight. After extensive investigation by our engineering and design team, we have determined that the new M8 camera is the best digital camera ever made, and has no flaws whatsoever. Rather, the problem lies with the imperfect ability of the human eye to perceive infrared wavelengths of light. Thus, Leica has decided to recall and replace 7.5 billion pairs of human eyes, which will be upgraded to this advanced infrared perception ability. Existing M8 customers will of course have priority for the eye upgrade, and three $100 coupons will be issued to each existing M8 owner to offset the cost of upgrading the eyes of people who may be looking at the photographs created by the M8 owner. We apologize that imperfect human eyesight has caused this confusion, but Leica management are committed to doing what they can to correct this design flaw in human being

What upsets me the most is that Solms (or Kodak for that matter) either has no clue about the camera's (or sensor's) UV or IR sensitivity or are unwilling to disclose it (just to give them a little benefit of doubt). Epson R-D1(s) and Nikon D-70 cameras have very good sensitivities for UV and IR. These were not disclosed by their respective manufacturers either.
