andalus Posted September 9, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 9, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the M9 on preorder. Is it difficult to get firmware upgrades for the m9 via a Mac with Snow Leopard? I have never had a digital camera before and need to know, tho this may be a dumb question. I am getting that M9 though and can't wait.

mat_mcdermott Posted September 9, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 9, 2009 No problem whatsoever to get past firmware updates for M8, so can't imagine it's any different for M9.
andalus Posted September 9, 2009 Author Share #3 Posted September 9, 2009 How is this done with a Mac. If you can, a short description? Much thanks.
jpattison Posted September 9, 2009 Share #4 Posted September 9, 2009 Hi, No it doesn't matter what computer you use, the upgrade is a file formatted for the camera; you download it via a web browser, and copy it onto an empty (format this first in the camera) SD card to use in the camera as directed in the handbook. It's best to keep a spare SD card for this purpose. Don't worry ! John
UliWer Posted September 9, 2009 Share #5 Posted September 9, 2009 You activate the download from the Leica-Site and wait until its over (should be only a few seconds). You have the file in "Downloads" of your Finder and unzip it. Then you proceed exactly as is described in the description given by Leica.
swamiji Posted September 9, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 9, 2009 How is this done with a Mac. If you can, a short description? Much thanks. Just follow the instructions for the PC... They are the same. However, the file is zipped, not stuffed. However stuff it expander will not have a problem. So... 1) Format one SD chip in the camera 2) Download the m9-1_002.zip file from Leica, and unzip it. It will leave a folder with one file. m9-1_002.upd (about 5.1mg in size) 3) Take SD chip, put it SD slot... (assuming it's a 13" MacBook Pro) or in SD reader. 4) Disk will mount, copy the "upd" file on to the mounted SD chip. 5) Drag the SD chip to the "trash" and put SD chip back in to the camera. Turn on the camera and follow the instruction on the camera screen. One comment... never format the SD chip on the computer... always use the camera. It's ok to delete pictures... just not format.
