I don't know what the Photoshop screenshots are supposed to prove, those images were not the original image, as the navigator panel shows. Still, the usual etiquette is this: if you say you're posting a 100% crop then the idea is you post a 100% crop. No-one is forcing you to post images and call them 100% crops if they're not. I don't notice any lack of sharpness in any of the stuff posted so far. DOF, yes; sharpening, yes... Thanks, Jamie. They're just not as sharpened. Again, I don't have one, but I have processed now about a dozen files. Part of what you may be seeing is simply the RAW processing a larger file, which might be sharpened by LR with a lighter touch; C1 is much lighter still, but the detail there is extraordinary. Part of it might be downsizing in PS, which unless you explicitly know how to do this, will use bicubic smoother, which will lessen the sharp impression in the resulting posted file, and since the M9 files are larger they may be proportionately smoother. Part of it is people posting too large JPEGs on the forum. But truly, though I've seen some OOF shots posted, where the shot is sharp I'm not missing any detail. Certainly NIk and Alien Skin--in addition to adding noise, which will give the impression of sharpness--also both add sharpening. Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

And M8 DNG files, in the experience of most people here, generally, require little sharpening, unless one is going for special effects — and my understanding is that M9 files are the same in this respect. That's what surprises by most of your examples. I don't agree. I open my photo in photoshop and enlarge it to 100% according to photoshop. If I make it even bigger it starts to pixelate severely, so I set it at 100%, and crop my photo. I think the reviewers will be singing a different tune about the M9 than they did when the M8 arrived on the scene with a few issues to be worked out. Hi Toke - I quickly downloaded the screenshot, cut out your image, resized to 5200 width to get an idea of what the scale of a 100% crop should look like. Please note!!: this is not meant to give ANY IDEA whatsoever of what a 100% crop of your original image would actually look like, I just did it to find what area of the image your supposed 100% crop should cover. Here's a jpeg with (left to right) your original "100% crop", your amended "100% crop" and then the rough idea (badly upscaled) of what a 100% crop would actually look like in truth. Generally I use the marque selection set to a fixed size something like 640x480 pix, then select crop. that way I know I am posting the actual 100% crop. honestly I envy Toke getting to go take pictures instead of trying to defend his crop.
