Minos Posted September 10, 2009 Share #81 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm definitely getting one! Of course, the time needed to accumulate the financial reserves (read: save enough money), will allow me to study all the feedbacks and reviews. The M9 seems to deliver the specs I wanted to have. Like most here, I can't wait to get on the street and shoot the world!
Advertisement Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Hi Minos, Take a look here M9 - are we happy and who's buying one?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Frank Sprow Posted September 10, 2009 Share #82 Posted September 10, 2009 Still not now, after looking at the images here and reading the reviews thus far available. It's amazing to me (an M user since the M3) how easily some excuse the poor colors and shadow detail by stating their confidence that firmware upgrades will soon address. This the day after a major introduction! I'll wait for the next version I believe.
stevesanacore Posted September 10, 2009 Share #83 Posted September 10, 2009 I never considered the M8 seriously but the M9 really has me thinking! I could see myself getting one next year perhaps. I agree. The M8 had too many issues for me to spend the money on that system. But the M9 looks truly to be a terrific camera. It's really what the M8 should have been to start with. stevesanacore Posted September 10, 2009 Share #84 Posted September 10, 2009 I don't see how it is any more overpriced than a 1dsmkIII or D3x, etc.; especially considering the much smaller scale production and amount of maunal/skilled labor involved in its manufacture. With the M8, I thought it was way overpriced which is why I never purchased it. At first the price of the M9 seemed high, but then I thought about my 1Ds Mk3 that cost me 8k and the M9 price seemed fair. Now the lenses are another story..... JLV Posted September 10, 2009 Share #85 Posted September 10, 2009 Could have got one today but was grey and I want one black. Will get it at the end of the month. I saved since it was clear that the M9 was coming out soon. The dealer takes back my M8. I have a 35 cron asph and a 50 lux asph. I think I will sell the 50 lux too and get a used 90 cron. So I will end up this trade with M9 and 35 cron asph and 90 cron. Perfect team for me. all the best, Jean-Luc

I think it is the first time in my life that I thought a lens was too sharp and resulted in rather harsh looking shots on the M8 (it was fine on film). I ended up part exchanging it for a 28-35-50 Tri-Elmar V2 and have not regretted it too much since, although I do miss it a bit for my M4. Since I hope I have an M9 on the way in the next week or so, I have invested in a second hand current version coded 50 Summicron, which not only will be good for the M9 but for my M4 as well. I am going to keep my M8 for the moment to see how much I will use it. If it becomes a dust gatherer, it will go on eBay. Wilson

I don't know if I could answer.

Wilson Hi Wilson, Because it is a lot to invest in, I have to trade one lens.(and the M8) I had the choice of trading the 35 and stay with one only lens, the 50 lux. I love too much the 35 small, fast to focus, great bokeh, and with the difference I will be abble to get a used 90 cron so my choice is made even if the 50 lux is really an amazing lens. (BTW, I don't like too much to handle it with the M8 and find it slow to focus. ring kind of stiff All the best, Jean-Luc
