mby Posted September 8, 2009 Share #1 Posted September 8, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm wondering if the coding of my 'old' Summilux 35mm #11870 is possible? - Of course, the bayonet ring is different, but I'm wondering whether corection data is available at all? Thanks for your help and best regards, Michael

rickp13 Posted September 8, 2009 Share #2 Posted September 8, 2009 if this model number is the pre-ASPH version of the summilux 35mm, there have been several threads about "to code, or not to code". here's one FYI http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/customer-forum/69471-summilux-1-4-35-pre-asph.html good luck rick
TimF Posted September 8, 2009 Share #3 Posted September 8, 2009 I don't think it is, officially at least. With the M9 you won't need to worry about it of course, provided it's covered (and I'm sure it will be).

mby Posted September 10, 2009 Author Share #5 Posted September 10, 2009 Just noticed that it's included in the list that's implemented in firmware, so no worries... Best, Michael
jaay Posted September 10, 2009 Share #6 Posted September 10, 2009 Malcolm Taylor in the UK could almost certainly code the lens for you for a lot less than the Leica rate.
rickp13 Posted September 10, 2009 Share #7 Posted September 10, 2009 Advertisement (gone after registration) i just looked at a list of codable lenses, and found only the lens below (the ASPH version of the summilux. maybe your list is newer, so please correct me if i'm wrong. in any case, i had my summilux 11870 milled for coding in NY, and coded it as the ASPH model (011101) with good results. i'm pretty sure that leica won't do the coding, as they were not able to do my summicron v3 with the same flange construction. in any case, good luck with your project. rick Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH. lens code 11874 6-bit code 011101

Apologies for not being precise: I'm looking at the internal list of my M9 (FW 1.002), where the 11870 is available for manual setting. - Big improvement - and apparently I'm already having a version that doesn't have the mechanical focus problem on infinity.
