Digilux 2; Lens hood cap and lens cap in one?

I have a Digilux 2 with a lens hood and the large rectangular cap for the hood.

When I remove the hood, the lens is uncovered.

According to the previous owner you should be able to remove the round part in the hood cap and use it for the lens when the hood is not in use. Would be great!

It looks really tight, how do you do that?

Hello,

The Digilux 2 came with two lens caps. There was a round one, which fits directly on the lens. The other cap is square with round corners and that one clips into the lens shade.

Do you have both caps?

Best,

Jan

Hi,

Thanks for the answers. The previous owner did only give me one cap.

He does not remember the second one. So it looks like if I want a cap on the lens, it will be the hood or nothing.

Of course I could order a spare part for the Pana LC1.

At least we are shure now there should have been 2 caps.

Regards,

Dirk

Watch out on eBay, sometimes somebody sells a 69mm round cap for Digilux 2. You can also buy a 69 to 72 mm extension ring. Then you will find a plenty of 72 mm caps from Hong-Kong. 72 mm is a much more popular diameter than 69. For example you may find easier 72mm Polarizing filters . Do not go to a diameter smaller than 69mm : danger of vignetting ! Good Luck

I am afraid that this is not a particularly good piece of advice......

If you use a 69mm to 72mm step-up ring, you will no longer be able to attach the lens shade. As to danger of vignetting with step-down adapters - I have used a 69mm to 67mm adapter since I got the camera and experience absolutely no vignetting. The lens shade can be used with this combination too. I bought this also on eBay, from a Hong Kong seller. I am sure that you will find it if you search eBay for '69mm to 67mm adapter'. I just did - 3 available.

Using this adapter, you will be able to use more common 67mm filters, use the shade at the same time and also obtain a common 67mm snap-on cap.

Best,

Jan
